How can I manually trigger a referral on behalf of a participant?

Why should you manually trigger a referral?

Manually triggering a referral allows you to perform a qualifying action on behalf of a participant. This will result in their referrer receiving referral credit. This is useful when the qualifying action happens offline, or if you are unable to integrate the referral trigger programmatically into your website/web app.

E.g., someone converts into a paying customer or makes a purchase after they signed up on your site.

Important notes:

The participant on whose behalf you are performing the qualifying action must have a referrer. This can be accomplished in either of the following ways:

  • To qualify, they must have visited your site and signed up using another participant's unique share link (e.g., https://yourwebsite.com?grsf=participant_unique_id). Additionally, you need to have integrated the form on your site to enroll participants in your referral program. This ensures that GrowSurf recognizes the participant's referrer, allowing you to manually trigger a referral.
  • If the participantnt does not have a referrer, you can manually assign them one from the dashboard.

How to manually trigger a referral

Step 1: Go to your campaign dashboard, and search for the referred friend by their email or unique GrowSurf ID. For instance, in the unique share link https://yourwebsite.com?grsf=xia2zh, "xia2zh" represents the unique GrowSurf ID.

Step 2: Click on the blue 'Trigger Referral' button on the top-right side. A popup window should appear asking if you want to confirm triggering a referral. Click the 'Yes, Trigger Referral'.

Once the referral has been triggered, the referrer should receive a referral credit, and any emails that you enabled in the Campaign Editor will be sent out.
